Pimping my ride!!!
Impulse buys tend to work out badly. Although this time I hope it works out as my scooter should look a little more pimped then before.. What the hell am I on about? Well I decided to place a bid on a pair of Carbon Fibre mirrors for my scooter that should fit as they are standard 8mm threaded. I friggen hope I win!!! 1 hour 38 mins to go and of writing.

They look shithot don't they. That should pimp my ride a little more then it is now! This ones for you for MRDJ!

Sydney Motorcycle Show 2007
Has it been a year already? WOW. How time flies when your having fun. And what fun we had this weekend. It was that time of the year again for the Sydney Motorcycle Show and how could we miss it.

This time myself, Oscar and Dom decided to make the trip out to homebush near the Olympic stadium and check out the bikes on offer on Sunday the 4th of November. Oscar and I met at the MyScooter store in Drummoyne as usual and made our way out to the Show riding our Scooters offcourse. It was a little worrying though if we would get to ride out at all as the previous evening greeted us with a thunderstorm and rain. Luckily though it had cleared up completely by the next day and we were ready to roll!

We arrived at the carpark around 11pm and rode in to an unwelcome sight of having to pay $5 for parking. It ended up being the first time I have ever had to pay for parking on my scooter. Oh well. I’m sure it wont be the last. We parked our scooters in the huge lineup of exotic motorcycles on offer. Everything from Harleys, Naked’s, Mopeds, Sports bikes, Tourers were parked in a row which made for an interesting show of bikes it self as you can see in the photos. A short gawking sessions and I decided to see where Dom was at. A quick chat revealed he was about 45 mins away due to lack of buses and transports (Bloody crappy Sydney transport system hence why I got a Scooter). So Oscar and I decided to head in and catch up with Dom later.

We bought our tickets and headed into the hall entrance. The usual loud crowd and advertising banners greeted us as we entered. Stalls lined the outer area of the hall while the inner area was busy with the large manufacturers. Everyone from Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Harley, Aprilia, Ducati, Royal Enfield and BMW where all there. And makers of excellent motorcycle products Draggin Jeans and Blueant were also there. I finally took the plunge and splurge out for a pair of Draggin Jeans. They happen to have Kevlar woven inside the lining of the jeans. This is so that if you happen to come off a motorcycle and slide, you wont have road rash. Anyway onto the show. We checked out everything we laid our eyes on and we even bumped into Matt and Gabbys Dad as well as Lukas and his wife. Obviously it was a popular show.

After around 3 hours and loosing Oscar and Dom countless times, my legs were ready to pack it in. After a quick chat with Oscar he decided to head off due to a previously sprained ankle bugging him. Me and Dom checked out a few more manufacturers and were ready to head off also. But I had one last purchase to make. I purchased Casey Stoner’s MotoGP Ducati Replica as I think the guy is a legend. What he has done in MotoGP this year is nothing short of amazing. Question is what will happen next year? We will see!

Anyway my purchase was made and we were finally off. Problem is how the hell was I going to get home? I wasn’t familiar with this part of Sydney as usual and Oscar was our navigator in the morning. But I trudged on snaked my way through the motorways and backstreets till I finally came across Canada Bay which became familiar again. Within no time I was on the Anzac bridge and headed home.

Overall it was an amazing day and made me think about the possibility of getting a motorcycle or maybe even just a bigger more powerful Scooter. Not that I’m not happy with my Scooter. I think it’s fantastic but nature dictates you want the next big thing. We will see though. Enjoy the photos. Some are pretty blurry like the ones of me but better then nothing as I took them on my Camera phone.

A wiseman once said!
Oh what a day. Sunday, Sunshine, lack of wind and good company. What more could one ask for. A ride to Wiseman’s ferry is what one could ask for. That’s what! We have been planning this trip for a long time now, but something always came up that stopped us from making the trip. Bad weather, Winter setting in, Me getting a puncture just before we leave!!! There was always something that stopped us from getting there.

Not anymore! We planned a week earlier to meet up at 10am in front of the MyScooter shop weather permitting. I woke up early and it seemed the weather permitted. So I packed my wet weather gear, Camera and a few snacks just in case and off I went. 15 minutes later I was in front of the MyScooter store and offcourse was the first to arrive. I had a chat to the Manager at MyScooter and booked myself in for a service on Friday and checked out the new MP3 scooter (Not an MP3 player but a 3 wheel scooter!!!!!). Suddenly I noticed Alan standing in the window and went out to greet him. Not much more then 5 mins later Oscar turns up and joins the party. A few more perusals in the store and we decided to head off to the petrol station for a quick fill.

As usual I had no idea how the hell we were going to get there but Oscar and Alan worked out the finer details and over the Gladesville bridge we went to our destination. Time passed as we went from the inner city to the outer suburbs and onwards. Snaking through the back of Windsor made way to bushland and interesting scenery.

We made a short stop at the turn off to Wiseman’s ferry to get some blood flowing back to our numb fingers which was needed at that point. A ciggie and short chat got us ready and off we were again to our destination. Some fantastically snaking roads made for some very interesting and exciting riding. I’m not surprised now why it is loved by riders as a popular riding route. 25 mins later and we arrive to our destination of Wiseman’s ferry and the famous rider’s pub. We parked our Scooters side by side and made our way happily in to order lunch for the day. A nice chicken schnitzel made for a good lunch and even more interestingly we met one of the very friendly aussie locals. A kookaburra decided to perch just behind me and I just couldn’t resist grabbing the camera and taking a few photos as you will see in the gallery. It made for a very surreal lunch out in the bush yet in comfort.

After listening to some of the songs being belted out by the local pub band playing classic rock and country we started to plan out our next leg of the trip. A place called St Albans which was just over the river 30km’s away or so. We mounted our scooters and headed over the Ferry crossing to St Albans. Around 10 mins into our trip we came onto some dirt road which surprised the crap out of me and made me very cautious with my riding. But after a while I got into a groove and had little problems. A bit of slip and sliding made for a little more fun and excitement. Eventually we made it to St Albans and stopped at a very famous Pub which is supposedly one of the oldest pubs in country NSW. Being on my P’s still I settled for a Coke as usual. But I would have killed for a Beer I tell ya! Soon enough I will be off my P’s and having one beer will be possible.

We basked in the warming sun and enjoyed the peace, quiet and serenity that was upon us. We took a few photos and headed up to have a look at one of the art galleries within the area. The art works on display were amazingly vibrant Australian landscapes using a colourful bush palette of colours. Bright colours of pink, purple, ochre, orange and khaki mixed into a kaleidoscopic mix of colour and texture. It’s nice to see local art such as that thriving in communities like Wisemans Ferry amd St Albans. We felt a little more artistically educated at this point and deciding to leave on a high. This time we returned to Wisemans Ferry via another road that snaked around the opposite direction and crossed the river at the second ferry crossing. After taking note of how low on fuel I was, I started to worry. I hoped that there would be Petrol stations nearby. There was bush everywhere an a petrol station nearby seamed unlikely. The last thing I wanted was to get stranded in the middle of no where without any fuel. But we trudged on with the hope of a petrol station being available in Wisemans Ferry.

Another section of unsealed road welcomed us but this time I was a little more prepared for it then the first. The dust wasn’t as heavy which made it easier for all as we could be a little closer in sight of each other. But none the less it was a dirt road and a place I would prefer not to have to ride on. I tried to stay in a riding position more central to the the road so as I had space to move if I needed. And at one point a Toyota Landcruiser 4wd came in the opposite direction which forced us to get into more of our lane. This usually wouldn’t be an issue but as I was coming into the bend of a sharp corner it made for some interesting times. I moves to the shoulder of the corner and slowed down and as I was coming out of the corner I accelerated out of it. I didn’t take note of how much sand was on that corner which led to the arse end of my scooter start to slide out. I immediately noticed the slide and eased off the throttle and corrected the angle. PROBLEM AVERTED! Another kilometre or so and just to top things off we come across a herd of wild goats including a few freaked out kids (baby goats) which were separated from the herd. Another car was already there taking photos of the occasion. We just slowed down and enjoyed the scenery. Shame that they are not native though. Not much further and we came off the last of the dirt road and hit tarmac. Within no time we were at the Wiseman ferry crossing to take us over the Hawkesbury river. And luckily enough my fuel gauge was well within the RED! But I knew I still had something left.

Cruising into Wisemans ferry to my delight there was a petrol station which alleviated my fuel fears. A quick fuel stop and off we went to our final destination, Home. Overall it was one of the most enjoyable trips we have had so far. A mini adventure away from Sydney. It’s amazing the places you can go just a stones throw from Sydney. I recommend everyone make the trip to Wisemans Ferry once in there life on 2 or 4 wheels. Hell who cares how you get there just check it out. It will be worth it.

How time flys.
It's been a while since I have written about anything. I've just been so busy that it's kind of just slipped me by. But a short update is in order.

Brewing beer has become a real pleasure lately. I have brewed enough to keep me stocked up for a while. But more importantly the quality of my beer has skyrocketed. Some of my Pilsners and Lagers over the winter were fantastic and my Golden Honey Ale is just magic. And to top it off, I have been brewing some Wheat beers lately and I think I nailed a couple of my recipes. So I have been quite happy with my brewing experience and knowledge really paying off!

On the Scooter front Ruby (My Scooter) got a wash and looks as good as new again. I even got a few comments regarding how shiny she was. After the wash me and my good friend Oscar took a nice cruise over to Brookvale for a nice Steak and then rode over through Manly and up to North Head Lookout. A fantastic day allround.

Something else I should also comment on is that I finally saw another model scooter as mine. And more importantly a RED one like Ruby!! The guy was riding down Botany Road at the time and I happened to spot him during my lunch break. It definetely put a smile on my face :)

Anyway not alot else happening. I hope to have my next mix out shortly. I'm still not to sure what to call it but I'm sure I will figure it out.

Signing off.

I'm Back from the magnificent Queenstown!!!!
Well I finally arrived back home yesterday after a magnificent holiday in Queenstown, New Zealand.
Only problem is every muscle in my body is in agony!!!
I have never felt this sore in my entire life. And catching the Flu also doesn't help to much. I think I picked that up at Auckland airport when we got stuck there because they over booked our Flight and we got stranded for a night. But at least all was paid for so I can't complain to much.

The holiday it self was fantastic. 5 days of solid skiing went down very well. And a few more days of sight seeing were perfect. We even got to cruise around part of the South Island Otago region which is famous for it's white wines. Plenty of Snow fell while we were there to make for some awesome days of Powder Snow Skiing. The Ski's we hired were performance Head Carving Ski's which were perfect for the conditions. Lot's of photos will be posted up once I get some time as well as generally settle back into Sydney life. These will include some interesting Panoramic photos I took and should make for so interesting viewing.
Stay Posted!

UPDATE: Photo's have been posted online now.

2000Km and Going strong!
Ruby and I have hit another Milestone. At 2000Km and rising I can honestly say I have been very happy with my Scooter and the lack of issues and problems encountered.

I even took a photo on my camera phone. I know it's a little hazy but it was during the evening.
I tried taken one during the day but only got crappy reflections.

Unfortunately I will be parting with Ruby for a short period of time while away in New Zealand. At least she is in good hands undercover in a Garage. I even got to use the cover I have for my Scooter for the first time. WWWOOHOOOOO.

Snow flavoured Fush and Chups!
Well only 2 more nights till we head to New Zealand with my good friend Russel. Good snow awaits us and we are both more then excited to get a chance to ski somewhere other then Australia. Neither of us have been to New Zealand at all so it should be a good experience.

We will be there for 9 days and 8 nights in total. We are flying to Queenstown via Auckland unfortunately but that’s all good. We couldn’t get any direct flights but at least we get to see a little bit extra of New Zealand.

The plan is to have 5 days worth of Skiing and the rest of the days taking it easy and sight seeing. Lots of photos will be taken for sure.

It has been snowing for the last 3 days in most of the resorts we want to go to. Anywhere from 6cm to 15cm a day/night. So New Zealand here we come.
See you in 10 days!

Scratch AttacK!

What can I say but it was an itch that needed to be scratched. Myself, my Dj friends Alex and Ed all headed down to the semi newly Renovated Gaelic Club on Devonshire St in Surry Hills. We were there to witness the skills of the Sydney Dj's and hopefully find a clear winner to send to the National Finals.

The night started out a little quiet. We met up at 7:30pm and headed down to the Gaelic Club for the doors to open at 8:00pm. Once we got in we realised we still had ages to wait so decided to head back to my place up the round for a few Home Brews instead of paying the $6.50 for a plastic cup of Beer.

An hour later and we headed back to the venue to find that we had come back at the perfect time as the first contestant was settings up and about ready to let loose.

The first 3 guys were really nothing special and the amount of errors made it almost un-listenable. Mid way through the pack the skill level started to rise but even then nothing to write home about. But a few guys did finally step up to the plate and did a much better job by show casing there skills and experience. The stand out of the night was the last DJ calling himself Dj Scoob. He ripped it up and there was no doubt that he won it outright! Mind you he was the previous finalist last year so experience definetely helps. The second place getter in my opinion was Resident K. He was also very good and showed a few new tricks but his routine just wasn't as tight as Dj Scoob's.

Anyway a fun night was had by all. I can't wait to check out the National Finals and then World Championships.. Stay tuned...
